Road Map Not Affected by Sharon’s Departure
Who are the media and politicians kidding? Ariel Sharon’s anticipated departure from the scene (if not the earth) will not impact the possibility of peace in the Middle East. There is no chance of the two sides agreeing with or without Sharon. Bottom line: Israel won’t give up the entire West Bank and the Palestinians won’t accept a state that doesn’t include the entire West Bank. Not to mention East Jerusalem. And, oh yeah, Hamas, whose power is increasing, wants to destroy Israel entirely. Why must people pretend that the road map has potential? It’s a complete farce. I guess all sides want to make it look like they’re trying to achieve something, but the joke is on us because it is obvious that these two sides will never agree on a permanent solution. Can we really trust Sharon anyway. He just wanted to get elected again to achieve his own aims, not something that is good for everyone. And Bush? Gimme a break. If Clinton couldn’t do it, Bush has no chance whatsoever.
